Organizational Goals: To foster the best conservative management (including prevention, early detection, medical treatment, and patient education) of scoliosis and other related spinal deformities. Also, to encourage interdisciplinary team work among scientists, healthcare professionals, patients, and their families.
This Meeting is Open to: All healthcare professionals interested in patients with spinal deformity, including orthopaedic surgeons, physiatrists, pediatricians, primary care providers, physician assistants, nurses, physical therapists, chiropractors, orthotics, and public health experts.
To offer an open forum for the exchange of knowledge and ideas in the field of conservative management of scoliosis and related spinal deformities.
To disseminate and promote basic science research and clinical studies that evaluate the effectiveness of conservative management strategies.
To gain consensus on a major topic of interest to healthcare professionals in the area of spinal deformity.
To provide education and training for healthcare professionals in specific conservative management techniques.
For Physical Therapists: SOSORT 2013 is approved by the Illinois Physical Therapy Association through Rosalind Franklin University for 15.0 CEU's for the main meeting and an additional 8.o CEU's for the Pre-Conference Course (3rd Annual SOSORT Conservative Management Instructional Course).
For Orthotists/Prosthetists: This program has been approved for up to 24.25 credits for the combined meeting and pre-meeting course through the American Board for Certification (ABC). Full participation in both portions is required to be eligible for the full amount of credits.
For Physicians and other Healthcare Professionals: This activity has been planned and implemented in accordance with the Essential Areas and Policies of the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education through the joint sponsorship of Rosalind Franklin University of Medicine and Science and SOSORT. Rosalind Franklin University designates this live activity for a maximum of 18.0 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits TM for the main meeting, and 8.0 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits TM for the Pre-Conference Course (3rd Annual SOSORT Conservative Management Instructional Course). Physicians and other healthcare professionals should only claim the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.
